Winter Holiday Art Market 2017 | November 17-19

JOIN FRESH ARTS in celebrating the 12th Anniversary of our Winter Holiday Art Market:  November 17-19, 2017.

In its mission to provide artists access to economic development and networking opportunities to support their professional growth, Fresh Arts hosts its annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM), a weekend art sale and celebration of Houston's talented and diverse arts each November at Winter Street Studios.

One part curated festival, one part holiday party, and all kinds of fun!

8th Annual Winter Holiday Art Market | Fresh Arts, November 22-23, 2013

Over the last decade, WHAM has become a citywide tradition, bringing together Houston’s small business, local artists and people of all ages to kick off the holiday season. Attendees purchase one-of-a-kind, handmade items for their loved ones while getting a chance to engage with Houston's most talented and diverse artists.

WHAM offers a wide variety of curated fine arts and crafts from 65+ local artists of all disciplines, artist demonstrations, live music performances, free beverages, and food for sale by local vendors. WHAM is not just a market... it's a celebration!

The Winter Holiday Art Market is one of Houston's largest juried art markets featuring exclusively local artists, and offers a unique mix of fine art and handmade crafts -- including paintings, sculpture, and photography, as well as jewelry, clothing, and soaps--from emerging and established independent artists.

Since its launch in 2006, WHAM has generated over $1,000,000 for hundreds of local artists and continues to grow as an important venue for Houston's creative economy.

This year, WHAM will bring together Houston's most talented local artists and kick off the holiday season with an exclusive "Ugly Sweater" themed Preview Party and Happy Hour on Friday, November 17th from 6:00 to 10:00pm, and resume on Saturday, November 18th at 10:00am until 7:00pm and Sunday, November 19th from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

The WHAM Preview Party on Friday costs $15 online and $25 at the door (FREE for Fresh Arts members), while Saturday and Sunday are free and open to the public.

WHAM is a program of Fresh Arts, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to strengthening the sustainability and vibrancy of Houston's arts sector by bolstering the capacity and professional practice of artists and arts organizations and enhancing the public's engagement with the arts.

Fresh Arts hosts WHAM to afford local artists the chance to showcase and sell their work to the general public, while simultaneously promoting the breadth and artistry of our city's creative community.

In line with Fresh Arts' mission, Fresh Arts personally invites local gallerists, interior designers, boutique and shop owners, and gift shop buyers to WHAM to help foster relationships between participating artists and those entities able to market and sell their work year-round.

"Everyone's on the "buy local" bandwagon and big box stores are taking a hit. In this economy, I think people would prefer to support the little guy who needs it the most, rather than corporations. Certainly, since I started my own business, I've become much more aware of the concept of 'spend it here, keep it here' in terms of buying locally. And in Houston, it's easy to support local artists because there are so many amazing talents to choose from!" -says Ann Westby, jeweler and multi-year participant in WHAM."
