“We have tremendous creativity here and artists are a big part of what makes living and visiting Houston so appealing. I am very interested in how we can help our artists and up-and-coming talent be successful in their careers.”
-Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2017 on the Artist INC-Houston program
ABOUT ARTIST INC
First launched in Kansas City, Artist INC is an annual training seminar that addresses the specific business needs and challenges artists of all disciplines face every day. Limited to 25 participants per session, artists gather for one night a week for eight weeks to learn business skills specific to their art practice and apply those skills cooperatively with their peers.
Using an innovative class design, artists learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group application activities, as well as large group discussion and multi-media lectures.
ARTISTS WILL GAIN
- Skills in arts planning, marketing, finance, law, and technology;
- Increased knowledge and the ability to access local and national art business resources;
- Strategic planning for pursuing, marketing and sustaining their art; and a
- Long-term network of cross-discipline, diverse artists to provide peer learning and support into the future.
