Solo show featuring artworks by Gretchen McDaniel.
Gretchen was born in Houston, and raised along the Texas Gulf Coast. She moved to Detroit on a whim, and stayed there for eight years. Her discovery of Judy Chicago’s “The Dinner Party” and Diego Rivera’s “Detroit Industry Murals” showed her the power of art in making a statement. Back in Houston, she remarried and was taught quilting by her new mother-in-law. Being strongly attracted to the tactile feel and colors of fabric and threads, she now quilts and works with fabrics and fibers in other artworks. She has worked with others to put on art shows for over 15 years. She now has an art studio at Jomar Visions, and is focused on bringing about world peace through her own art.
