Join Fresh Arts for an afternoon of artist talks and performances featuring the Connecting the Silos exhibition artists. The afternoon will begin with a dynamic cross-disciplinary performance at 5pm featuring dance and choreography by Roberta Paixao Cortes, spoken-word poetry by Outspoken Bean, and music by David Medina, and close with informal Artist Talks and Q&A from other exhibition artists.
Participating artists are 2017 graduates of Fresh Arts' Artist INC-Houston program. Through Artist INC-Houston, these artists – selected through a juried process – gathered for one night a week for eight weeks to learn business skills specific to their art practice and apply those skills cooperatively with their peers. Artist INC ended in May 2017, but the artists who participated requested an opportunity to present work with their newly-discovered peers across disciplines. This is how Connecting the Silos was born.
