Friday, March 3, 2017  // 10:00am to Noon

Are you planning to apply for one of the many local "Calls for Exhibition Proposals" in the coming months? Before you do, Fresh Arts, in partnership with the Center for Art and Social Engagement at University of Houston, invites individual artists for an overview of how to write a successful project proposal. In this two-hour lecture + discussion led by artist and writing expert Cary Reeder, you will learn strategies to improve your project proposal and hear what Houston's art directors and reviewers are looking for in an exhibition or project submission.

This workshop and curator panel will cover:

  • *  the basic components of project proposals,
  • *  tips for writing an effective project description,
  • *  the importance of quality work samples,
  • *  review of two successful proposals,
  • *  how-to avoid common proposal pitfalls,
  • *  and overview of local exhibition opportunities open to individual artists.

There will also be a 30-minute Q&A session where participants can ask specific questions regarding their project proposals so please have your questions ready.

Please note:  budgeting will NOT be covered in this workshop, but will be covered later in Fresh Arts’ workshop series.
