Dominic Walsh Dance Theater
February 9, 10 & 11, 2012 at 7:30 PM
The company’s tenth anniversary season continues with a celebratory mixed rep program featuring prized works by Walsh, a brilliant piece from one of the most iconic choreographers in our repertoire, star dancers from around the world, and one of Houston’s beloved ballerinas.
27’52” Gala Version
No choreographer is more praised today than Jiří Kylián, the master of fusing classical and modern dance. 27’52” is full of dazzling detail and deeply moving partner work and is set to an intense electronic composition by Dirk Haubrich.
Nessuno U.S. Premiere
As a finalist of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s National Choreographic Competition, Walsh created Nessuno in 2010. This thought-provoking work travels through three chapters, each representing non-sequential states of being.
Walsh World Premiere
Vignettes of a moment, day, or life-span with emphasis on its beginnings and endings set to a soundscape featuring compositions by Arcangelo Corelli.
Duets from The Trilogy: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Domenico Luciano reprises his role as “Mozart” in Walsh’s award-winning trilogy and performs memorable duets with Stefania Figliossi, who wowed audiences in our season opener, and extraordinary Japanese ballerina Hana Sakai who is regarded as one of the most popular ballet dancers in Japan.
The Dying Swan
We proudly present Tyann Clement in Walsh’s dramatic The Dying Swan. Clement danced with Houston Ballet for 17 years and also danced in DWDT’s debut performance in 2003.
