In this workshop, we will build on the knowledge shared in Technical Writing I. In doing so, we will explore more complex texts and more advanced writing exercises like those you would receive if you accept a position as a technical writer. In addition to completing writing exercises, we will cover proofreading strategies and best practices for sending work and reviews to colleagues. We will also take a look at the most common authoring tools, such as Microsoft Word, and find out how they can make your life easier as a writer and editor of your own technical documentation. We will discuss other business writing forms, such as web content and copywriting, as technical writers are sometimes also asked to assist with sales-related writing material. We will conclude with a Q&A, in which the instructor will answer any additional questions about the field, such as what typical pay rates are and how to find technical writing jobs.
Please note: Technical Writing I is recommended, but not a prerequisite for this course, as it can be replaced by commensurate experience.
