In Media Res Reading

Join us to celebrate the launch of our second anthology, In Medias Res: Stories from the In-Between, with readings by local and national contributors. Enjoy drinks and snacks on us while listening to selections of boundary-breaking fiction. This event is free and open to the public.

Multi-genre writer, Jody T. Morse, lives in the heart of a mystical forest on an 18-acre farmstead. Life for her is about connecting with others through written and spoken word, visual and performance arts. Jody has enjoyed connecting with fellow writers through Writespace and critique groups in North Houston since late 2015. To learn more about her work and passions, visit 

Dorothy Tinker is a writer of epic fantasy novels and short stories that run the gamut from scifi/fantasy/spiritual to horror to romance/erotica. She is the author of the young adult epic fantasy series, Peace of Evon, which also includes Gift of War and Lost King. With a fascination for languages and cultures, she incorporates both other languages and other cultures into the works that she writes.

L.C. Lara is currently working toward her master’s degree in creative writing with the University of Denver. More of her writing can be found in Crack the Spine Literary Magazine. She is a wife, mother, and former school teacher turned dance teacher. When she’s not busy family-ing, reading, writing, or dancing, she likes volunteering her time with Writespace. She’s lived south, north, west, and now east of Houston; no matter how many times she moves she’s never very far from the city.

Jennifer Stephan Kapral writes poetry, non-fiction, and fiction. She was born in the shadows of steel mills in Western PA and studied creative non-fiction at the University of Pittsburgh. She currently resides in Houston, TX, spending time by the bayous with her husband and two dogs.
