KINETIC presents: Duos, Dances & Divertimenti

Houston's own conductorless ensemble.

Houston’s own
conductorless ensemble, KINETIC
launches their third concert season
on Sunday, October 15, 5pm at MATCH with folk-inspired music from Eastern
Europe and Scandinavia. Einoiuhani Rautavaara’s Pelimannit (“Fiddlers”) and Béla
Bartók’s Romanian Dances are rustic miniatures based on Finnish and Romanian
folk tunes, while Olli Mustonen’s Sinuhe for violin orchestra tells the story
of Sinuhe, the personal physician at the court of the Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Closing the program is Bartók’s Divertimento, a staple of the string orchestra
repertoire, composed before Bartók left Hungary at the outbreak of the Second
World War.

Formed in 2015, KINETIC is a conductorless
ensemble based in Houston, Texas, that aspires to enrich the musical
vibrancy of Houston’s cultural landscape
 through live
performances, distinct programming, and interactive learning experiences. Comprised
of 16 passionate and diverse string musicians and led by Artistic Director
Natalie Lin, KINETIC thrives on its unique focus on creative
collaboration to create engaging musical experiences for the great city of
Houston. It is a world-class ensemble that proudly calls Houston home – it is
Houston’s own conductorless ensemble.
