Frightspace Open Mic & Contest

Read your ghoulishly good stories to win prizes!

DATE: Saturday, October 29th, 2016 7 :30-9 p.m.
LOCATION: Writespace

This Halloween, let’s transform Writespace into Frightspace! In celebration of all that is creepy, Frightspace will recreate the friendly competition that inspired Mary Shelley to write her gothic monster tale, Frankenstein in 1816 with a Terrifying Tales Contest and open mic.

Frightspace invites writers of all genres to read excerpts of their scary, weird or suspenseful works to an audience of the likewise twisted-minded. Phobophiles who make it through all the readings without soiling themselves will vote on their favorite scary storyteller.

No scary story to read at Frightspace? Join us from 2-4 p.m. for ourJumpstart Your Writing--Halloween-Style!, where prompts and timed writing sprints might help you create a freaky flash story on the spot. Plus, we'll have exclusive info on The Molotov Cocktail's next flash fiction contest! Who knows: you might create something worth sending in, and maybe next year your story will make it into the Prize Winners Anthology!

Reading is not mandatory, so you are also welcome to participate as an audience member and cast your vote at the end of the night. Free libations will be provided for readers and listeners in need of liquid courage. Costumes are strongly encouraged!

Email Layla to sign up to read your work.
