François Gautier (Dany Boon), a talented concert violin player, has been a cheapskate all his life. His days are regulated around his obsessive frugality, making him the subject of jokes and scorn from his colleagues and neighbors. But his routine takes a different direction in a single day: he falls in love with a beautiful cellist (Laurence Arné) and discovers that he has a 16-year-old daughter (Noémie Schmidt), who is under the false impression that he is a generous philanthropist.
François finds himself spinning a web of lies that grows out of control, until a sudden revelation inspires him to value what is truly important. A Chinese remake of Penny Pincher is forthcoming!
