Want to learn more about What Works for artists to create sustainable careers?
Artists, just like traditional small business owners, have to wear many hats- creator, fabricator, accountant, marketer, technologist, and more. And, just, like traditional small business owners, artists can find this to be a daunting task. How do some artists make the leap to sustainable and profitable artistic practices? Through their work with over 750 artists (from musicians, to writers, to painters, to filmmakers), the Artist INC team has identified the common behaviors of successful artists’ entrepreneurs.
In the What Works/What Doesn’t? workshop we will share those behaviors and leave you ready to apply them to your own art practice.
The workshop includes discussion of:
• Portfolio careers
• Goal setting and planning
• Communications strategy
• Financial planning
The last 30 minutes of the workshop is dedicated to audience needs, so bring your questions. You will receive the What Works Workbook that challenges you to begin identifying your goals and crafting a plan following the workshop.
This FREE What Works workshop is an introduction into the Kansas City-based program, Artist INC Live and kicks off the online application for ARTIST INC coming to Houston in Spring 2017. This is also a great chance to meet the Artist INC- Houston's artist facilitators and ask any questions you have about the Artist INC seminar. See more below.

Online registration ends on November 8th, 2016 at Noon or until we have reached the maximum number of registrants.
ABOUT ARTIST INC:
First launched in Kansas City, Artist INC is a cutting edge training seminar that addresses the specific business needs and challenges artists of all disciplines face every day. Limited to 25 participants per session, artists gather for one night a week for eight weeks to learn business skills specific to their art practice and apply those skills cooperatively with their peers. Using an innovative class design, artists learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group application activities, as well as large group discussion and multi-media lecture. Now in its eighth year, the Artist INC workshop has been completed by more than 600 regional artists.
Artist INC seminars provide a host of benefits to artists of all disciplines through mentorship opportunities, expert presentations, and peer networks to develop their entrepreneurial skill and strengthen their artistic practice. Artists gain:
* Skills in arts planning, marketing, finance, law, and technology;
* Increased knowledge and the ability to access local and national art business resources;
* Strategic planning for pursuing, marketing and sustaining their art; and a
* Long-term network of cross-discipline, diverse artists to provide peer learning and support into the future.
