Nicki Berndt is a local artist creating pottery and metalwork jewelry. She graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After teaching art, and then working in the business world, she has finally come back to the love of her life…ART!
Using clay she creates utilitarian objects used for cooking, eating, or drinking, such as mugs, vases, platters, and bowls. These pieces are high fired stoneware that are oven safe and lead free. Her interest in the Raku method of firing has allowed her to create aesthetic pieces, such as candle holders, platters, and large jugs.
Using different metals such as silver, brass, copper and some gold, she also creates jewelry, Including earrings, necklaces, rings, broaches, and bracelets. Each piece is an original design.
