Position Summary

 

The mission of Art League Houston is to connect the community
through diverse, dynamic, and creative experiences that bring people together
to see, make, and talk about contemporary visual art.

 

We are seeking a Visitor Services Associate to answer the
telephone and greet visitors, handle incoming and outgoing mail, order supplies
and maintain the supply room and provide administrative support to Program
Directors. This full-time position reports to the Executive Director. Hours:
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, and occasional evening and weekend hours.

 

Duties:

 

·        

Answers
the telephone and welcomes visitors, obtaining basic information and directing
to appropriate staff member

·        

Gather,
organize, and share information about ALH’s school, exhibits and programs.

·        

Perform
opening and closing procedures of ALH by turning on lights and disarming
alarms, including setting up the space to receive visitors, replenishing
brochures and other printed materials, and ensuring that the reception area is
clutter free

·        

Opens
and distributes the mail; receives and receipts deliveries

·        

Assists
in planning and organization of meetings, as needed

·        

Processes
in person student and membership registration

·        

Assist
with general maintenance of classrooms, exhibition spaces, when necessary or on
occasion

·        

File
incident report for alarm activities or other mishaps and turn completed forms
into the Executive Director

·        

Order
and stocking of office supplies

·        

Assist
Program Directors with projects, as needed

·        

Assist
with marketing, social media, and updating website, as needed

·        

Assist,
when necessary, in giving tours to groups of all ages and sizes

 

Skills/Qualifications:

 

·        

A passion for community, arts education and contemporary art

·        

Basic computer proficiency (word, excel) with ability to learn
and use other software such as squarespace and mailchimp

·        

Reliable with strong work ethic

·        

Able to learn quickly, and adapt to a fast-paced environment

·        

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        

Excellent organizational skills, multitask and prioritize work

·        

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

·        

Personable, professional, and willing to learn
