The Texas Review accepts submissions of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, short plays, and comics/art. We accept unsolicited submissions via Submittable. Unsolicited submissions sent via email or regular mail will be deleted/recycled unread.
Send a single short story in a fiction submission, a single essay in a nonfiction submission, a single play in a play submission, up to 5 poems in a poetry submission, and up to 15 pages in a comics/art submission.
Prose (fiction and nonfiction) should be double-spaced and page numbered. Poetry and plays should be single-spaced. Poetry, prose, and plays should be submitted in a single file, either Word or PDF. Comics/art should be submitted as a single PDF file.
All submissions should be typed in 12-point font (preferably Times New Roman). Include the author's name and address on the top of the first page of each submission. Pages must be numbered. We consider simultaneous submissions but ask that you notify us promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Prose should be double-spaced. Poetry should be single-spaced with only one poem per page.
Please submit only one short story or nonfiction piece at a time; up to five poems per submission. When submitting multiple poems, combine them in a single Word document or PDF file.
There are no restrictions on subject matter, form, or length (extremely long pieces are somewhat at a disadvantage—but we have published them in the past and will continue to do so). Anything of excellence is welcome.
