DiverseWorks presents the Project Freeway Fellowship Program for artists and creative individuals interested in socially-engaged creative practices. The Project Freeway Fellowship was developed in response to the rapid growth and diversification of the city of Houston and DiverseWorks’ desire to support innovative artists’ projects that engage all Houstonians, especially in neighborhoods outside of the city center. Interested participants must live in the Greater Houston Area and attend all program activities between July 2019 and January 2020.
Throughout this seven-month Fellowship program, Fellows will meet with a diverse roster of artists, activists, and arts professionals to help in the development of artistic strategies that focus on sustaining the arts in the community, advocacy, and social change. This Fellowship supports a practice-based model, with the Fellowship culminating in a site-specific project within each Fellow’s neighborhood.
Two applicants will be selected for this Fellowship. Fellows will each be awarded a $5,000 honorarium with additional support for production and materials.
